What does History look like at Irlam Primary School?
History is concerned with stimulating the children’s curiosity of how events in the past have influenced our lives today.
Through looking back at history children develop a sense of identity, both locally and culturally.
History encourages investigations into past events and, by doing so, children learn the important life skill of being an enquirer. As part of the History Curriculum children learn to ask perceptive questions, think critically, engage in problem solving, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement in the interpretation of historical information.
Looking back to our past provides inspiration for a brighter future, allowing our children to become ‘INSPIRED ENQUIRERS.’
